U11 Girls 7-a-side 24/25 Autumn Tournament
Despite a much reduced number of teams taking part, the Nottinghamshire Under 11 Girls Individual Schools 7-a-side County Finals took place on a cold but sunny morning at Sutton Lawn, Sutton in Ashfield.
The competition was in a round robin format with each team playing three games against the other teams in the tournament. Lowes Wong from Southwell representing the Newark & District SFA played out a 0-0 draw with Rushcliffe’s Lady Bay from West Bridgford in the opening game. On pitch two, the game being played at the same time also saw a draw at the final whistle – this time a 2-2 scoreline between Leen Mills from Kirkby & District and Mansfield’s Heatherley.
The second round of games produced what proved to be a decisive score with Lady Bay defeating Leen Mills 4-0. On pitch one, Hatherley and Lowes Wong could not break the deadlock and it ended 1-1.
The final round of games began with three of the four teams still in with a chance of winning the title. Lowes Wong and Leen Mills could only manage a 1-1 draw and with Lady Bay gaining their second win of the morning, guaranteed themselves the title of County Champions. They were presented with the County Shield and the ESFA pennant by Bob Young, Chairman of the Nottinghamshire Schools’ FA and will now represent Nottinghamshire in the Midland Regional Finals in March or April.
