Humberside U16 4 v 2 Nottinghamshire U16

Nottinghamshire U16 Boys squad travelled to Hull University to play Humberside in the eastern section of the Midland Counties Federation. In a repeat of the same fixture two years ago, the visitors found themselves three goals down, giving away ‘sloppy goals’ as the managers called them although they had had probably 70% of the possession and territorial advantage. Two goals came from the result of throw-ins finding gaps in the Notts defence and with Humberside able to play through balls far too easily. However, Notts rallied and get the score back to 3-2 but a fourth home side goal coming from a very dubious challenge that went unpunished, settled the game. Return games against Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Humberside will be played before the end of March giving the Nottinghamshire boys chance to reverse the two defeats they have suffered and try to climb into the top two of the league.
