Nottinghamshire U16 Boys 4 v 1 Lincolnshire U16 Boys

Nottinghamshire Schools’ Under 16 boys’ squad had a comfortable 4-1 win against Lincolnshire in a Midland Counties Eastern League game at Rainworth F.C. The home side took an early lead when a superb run from Luke Abdy saw him dribble past three defenders before cutting into the box and scoring from a tight angle. It was a shock however, when soon afterwards Lincolnshire intercepted a loose pass and drew level.

Notts were quick to restore their lead when James Oluwatosin got the last touch to a corner and then some excellent link-up play down the left from James Sloan and Christian Hatley ended with a cross which was finished by Leighton Platts. Nottinghamshire retained their 3-1 lead until the interval and dominated a one-sided second half, during which goalkeeper Maison Campbell was seldom tested. The fourth and last goal of the game came from another corner, excellently delivered by Josh Gardner and thumped home by Harvi Weatherall. Notts now play GHHumberside after half-term as they look to top the eastern group of the Midland Counties Federation to bring them a home tie in the semi-final.
