U11 Girls 7-a-side 23/24 Autumn Tournament

The Nottinghamshire Schools’ FA Girls 7-a-side Finals took place on 3rd February following a postponement of the tournament before Christmas because of the weather conditions.

Five Districts of Nottinghamshire nominated teams to represent their Association at the Tournament who were to play each other in a round robin format. Barnby Road from Newark & District and Pierrepont Gamston representing Rushcliffe played out a 0-0 draw in their first game – a scoreline that proved very costly to a talented Barnby Road side. On pitch two, Sacred Heart, representing Gedling, had a comfortable 2-0 win against Morven Park from Kirkby & District.

Barnby Road showed their true form in the second round of games putting nine unanswered goals past Mansfield side St Edmunds whilst Sacred Heart recorded their second victory with a 2-1 win against Pierrepont Gamston. In the third round of games, Morven Park chalked up their first victory with a 3-0 win over St Edmunds, but the decisive game of the whole tournament took place over on pitch two with Barnby Road and Sacred Heart battling out a 1-1 draw which meant that a win in their final game would win the title the Gedling school. They made no mistake with a 4-0 victory against St Edmunds with Pierrepont Gamston securing a 1-0 win over Morven Park.

The runners up spot was up for grabs in the final round of matches and although Pierrepont Gamston did their best to claim second place in the table with a 10-0 win against St Edmunds, a narrow 1-0 victory for Barnby Road over Morven Park thanks to a penalty was enough to see them finish as runners up in the tournament.

Congratulations to Sacred Heart and they will now represent Nottinghamshire in the Midland Regional Finals in April.
