Reprotec Small Schools 7-a-side

Sadly, only three schools entered the U11 Nottinghamshire Small Schools County 7-a-side Finals played at the Sutton Lawn 3G facility. This is particularly disappointing as the winner of this competition progresses to the Midland Regional Finals in March next year and the winner there receives an invitation to the National Finals day which for several seasons now has been played at a Premier League Stadium.

Unlike the School Teams and Girls competition, where just the champion school from each of the Nottinghamshire Districts compete in the County Finals, an individual invitation goes out to all the small primary schools in the County. The only entrants were Linby, Keyworth and Chuter Ede Fernwood. This gave each school just two games with Chuter Ede and Keyworth contesting the first match. This resulted in a comfortable win for Chuter Ede who then took on Linby in what turned out to be an excellent encounter with Chuter Ede taking an early lead only for Linby to hit back with a goal in each half to earn a hard fought victory. This meant in the final game a draw or win for Linby against Keyworth would give them the title. This was easily accomplished playing some excellent football in the process.

All three teams received their mementoes from Bob Young, Chairman of Notts Schools’ FA, with good wishes going to Linby for their appearance in the Regional Finals in Nottingham next March.
