U12 Girls West Bridgford Colts Shield

NATIONAL 4 v 0 TOOT HILL

Toot Hill School from Bingham had the chance of a ‘double’ in the two County Cup Under 12 finals held at the Poplars Ground, Burton Joyce but although their boys were obviously the better side as they defeated Becket Academy 4-1 in the final of the 9-a-side Reprotec Shield, their girls’ side came up against a very strong Hucknall National Academy side in the West Bridgford Colts Shield final and went down 4-0 .

The latter was a high quality game with several players of both sides showing great promise. The National squad this season reached the last 16 of the English Schools’ F.A. PlayStation Under 12 Cup only to be knocked out the previous week. The County Final brought them some silverware for a fine season as they scored two goals in each half. The two scorers were the same as Paige Hawkins and Millie Thorley hit two fantastic goals before the break and each netted a counter-attacking goal in the second half. At the other end of the pitch, their keeper Keira Holland kept Toot Hill at bay with two fine second half saves.

Although the Bingham school fought hard with Ellie Shakespeare outstanding both in defence and going forward, National were deserving winners with the following squad : Keira Holland, Abi Cooper, Laura Volframa, Mille Thorley, Paige Hawkins, Millie Morley. Orla Moran, Josie Spick and Rosie Edmunds.
