Nottingham 1 v 0 South Notts
The first of two Schools’ Nights at Meadow lane on Monday saw Nottingham Schools complete a double success over South Notts in the finals of the Pavis Trophy and the Cobbin Cup.
The Cobbin Cup Final was very closely fought with neither side keeping possession long enough to threaten the keepers so that the first half was goalless. The second half produced more goalmouth incident and Lewis Williamson gave Nottingham the lead when he broke down the left flank and his powerful low shot went through the fingertips of the keeper to put his side ahead.
Nottingham nearly increased their lead when Williamson crossed and captain William Mellor-Blair hit a superb volley which brought a terrific save from Jake Want but the score remained at 1-0 to bring Nottingham the Cup for the first time since 2005. Michael Johnson again presented the Cup and individual awards with members of the Cobbin family.
