Minute Maid National Semi-Final:  Trinity School 3 v 0 St Thomas More School (Northumberland)   -  Peafield Lane Primary School - National Champions! :  2 - 1 victory at Wembley over Dinglewell School from Gloucestershire

The U14 Girls Individual Schools Active Sports Shield

Valley School  3  v  2  Redhill School

The two Under 14 Boys and Girls County Finals, postponed from last week because of waterlogged pitches took place at The Poplars Sports Ground, Burton Joyce on Wednesday 14 May 2008.

The girls final brought together Valley School from Worksop and Redhill School from Arnold on excellent pitch in ideal condition for good football.  The two sides certainly did not disappoint, producing a very entertaining game with both teams playing the ball to feet whenever possible.  The early chances fell to Valley with striker Thompson unlucky on several occasions.

However, it was Redhill who took the lead when, following a good run down the right by Anderson her cross eluded all defenders and attackers and Bartram found the ball at her feet at the back post and scored with a strong right foot finish.  Valley replied with some strong attacks including an excellent flick by Thompson which bought a superb save from the Redhill keeper and on another occasion a terrific header off the line by Powditch following a corner.  The pressure paid dividends however as a good run and cross shot by Johnson levelled the scores before half time.

Valley continued in the same vein at the beginning of the second half but suddenly found themselves behind again.  A good run down the left by Emily Scott and shot by Rebecca Lane which the Valley keeper could only parry, saw the ball run back to Scott who had followed up to push the ball home.  Once again Valley dragged themselves level when hesitant defending by Redhill let in Johnson on the left hand side to grab her second goal and pull Valley level once more.

The fluctuating fortunes in a great match took another twist with only minutes left when Valley took the lead for the first time.  A Redhill goal kick landed at the feet of Anne-Marie Thompson who had the simple task of scoring Valley’s third and what was to be winning goal.  The teams were presented with their medals and trophy by Jim Richardson, Vice Chairman of Notts Schools FA.
